New to Canada

No Canadian credit history? You can still get approved.

Newcomers to Canada — permanent residents, work permit holders, and international students — are one of the fastest growing groups we finance. Not having a Canadian credit file is a common situation, not a problem. We work with lenders who evaluate newcomer applications on income, employment, and residency status rather than a credit score you have not had time to build.

Approvals typically come back within 24 hours. Rates for newcomer programs are usually within 1 to 3 percent of prime credit — significantly better than subprime — because lenders treat "no credit" and "bad credit" as very different profiles.

Works for PR, work permit, and student visa

Financing programs are available for permanent residents, valid work permit holders, and international students on study permits with 12+ months remaining.

What you need to apply

Passport or PR card, work permit or study permit, proof of Canadian address, and one recent pay stub or job offer letter. No Canadian credit history required.

Down payment helps, but is not always required

A 10 to 20 percent down payment typically unlocks the best newcomer rates. Trade-in equity counts. Several programs approve $0 down for newcomers with strong employment.
